Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and MECS will today, 7 December, visit Curtis Nkondo’s family to pay their respects following his death on 3 December 2009.

Nkondo contributed enormously to the development of South Africa and the African continent through his involvement in the struggle against apartheid and the democratisation and the reconstruction of the country. At the time of his death Mr Nkondo served in trusts and committees such as Soweto Education Coordinating Committee, English Language Teaching Information Centre and Provincial Disciplinary Committee of the ANC. He was granted the honorary life membership of South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU).
The provincial official funeral service for former High Commissioner to Namibia and ANC struggle veteran Curtis Nkondo will take place on 12 December 2009 at 09h00 at St Charles Catholic Church, 35 Road, No.3 (between 13th Street in Linden and Road No. 3) Victory Park , Johannesburg.
Nkondo will be laid to rest at the West Park cemetery in Johannesburg.
