Premier Alan Winde visits housing project and hands over houses fitted with solar geyser panels, 19 Feb

Western Cape Premier, Provincial MEC of Infrastructure and Drakenstein Executive Mayor will visit Vlakkeland housing project and handover houses fitted with solar geyser panels.

On Monday, 19 February 2024, Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, Provincial MEC for Infrastructure, Tertuis Simmers, and Drakenstein Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Conrad Poole, will be visiting and handing over more houses fitted with solar geysers at the Vlakkeland housing project. 

The Western Cape Department of Infrastructure’s energy crisis mitigation continues to change lives. In the last financial year, MEC Simmers committed to launching a pilot project to assist indigent households and beneficiaries with disabilities from five provincial housing projects will solar geyser to combat the effects of load shedding. The pilot has been so successful that it will continue in key projects going into the 2024/25 financial year. 

“I have witnessed the joy and difference this initiative has brought to the lives of our beneficiaries when I’ve visited these sites. This initiative translates into a R 27.5 million investment in improving the lives of those in most need,” said MEC Simmers.
