The Portfolio Committee on Energy, in conjunction with the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, will tomorrow embark on public hearings (over a period of two days) that are scheduled to take place on 25 to 26 July in Parliament.
The public participation engagement will receive inputs from government, public entities, civil society and the private sector relating to the possible restructuring of the Electricity Distribution Industry. The objective of the hearings is to address the ageing infrastructure which requires immediate attention due to the lack of investment.
