The Department of Human Settlements will host a two day Vision 2030 Indaba at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth on Monday, the 3rd of October 2011.
Meeting under the theme: “Defining a new path for sustainable settlements and social justice”, the two-day gathering will bring together about 300 delegates from the academia, public sector, the private sector and from within the NGO sector.
Its purpose is to refine and strengthen the country’s 20-year Human Settlements Vision and come up with a blue print on how to deal with the many human settlement challenges facing the country.
As part of the Indaba the Minister of Human Settlements Tokyo Sexwale, the Premier of the Eastern Cape Noxolo Kiviet and the MEC for Human Settlements Helen Sauls-August will open the Zanemvula Multi-Purpose Centre in Zwide. On the second day of the Indaba the Minister will hand over more than 800 to beneficiaries in Chetty.
