FIFA Confederations Cup comes to Parliament Tuesday, 9 June

Parliament: Monday, 8 June 2009: The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is bringing the Confederations Cup to Parliament on 9 June and it will be on display in the National Assembly Chamber when President Jacob Zuma replies to last week's debate on his State of the Nation Address.

Immediately after the President's reply, there will be a photo opportunity in the foyer outside the National Assembly Chamber. Broadcast media and photographers who want to attend the photo opportunity should send their names to Lokile Molefe at lmolefe@parliament.gov.za 11h00 on Tuesday, 9 June 2009.

The Confederations Cup kicks off at Ellis Park/Coca Cola Park in Johannesburg on Sunday, 14 June 2009 and ends on 28 June 2009. Matches will also be played in Pretoria, Bloemfontein and Rustenburg.

The Confederations Cup is more or less regarded as an official dress rehearsal for the World Cup, which South Africa is hosting in 2010. Since 2005 FIFA has held the Confederations Cup every four years in the same country selected to host the World Cup the following year.
