Committee on Environment to receives briefings from the Department of Environment, Isimangaliso and UPL
The Portfolio Committee on Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, will tomorrow consider and adopt its programme for 2022 and will receive briefings from Isimangaliso Wetland Park Authority on the opening of the river mouth and shooting incident and on Isimangaliso Wetland farmers on how they have been affected by the river mouth closure.
The committee will also be briefed by the small-scale fishers on how they have been affected by the closure of the river mouth and receive a briefing from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment (DFFE) on the progress made by the appointed panel including terms of reference and recommended terms of reference; follow-up briefing by the UPL multi-stakeholder: DFFE; eThekwini Metro; National Department of Health; communities; Sugar Cane Farmers; Police; National Prosecuting Authority and Hawks.
