Committee institutes inquiry into SABC Board Chairperson
Members of the Portfolio Committee on Communications have unanimously resolved to formally institute an inquiry into the allegations of misrepresentation of academic qualifications by the South African Broadcasting Corporation Board Chairperson, Ms Ellen Tshabalala on her CV.
This public inquiry is scheduled to take place next week on Thursday, 25 September 2014 whereby Ms Tshabalala will be invited and afforded an opportunity to make her response to these allegations. The decision for the inquiry follows Ms Tshabalala’s failure to furnish the committee with her certified copies of educational qualifications (Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Diploma in Labour Relations) allegedly obtained from the University of South Africa, to date.
Meanwhile, the committee has recommended for the suspension of Ms Tshabalala while the inquiry into her qualifications is underway in order to avoid this compromising the integrity and image of the entire board and the national broadcaster.
