Parliament hosts Youth Parliament

About 300 young people from a wide range of formations will meet in a Youth Parliament tomorrow to debate issues related to the youth.

The debate will be around:

  • drug abuse: an assessment of the effectiveness of rehabilitation
  • youth and skills development
  • how do young people achieve economic freedom

Representatives from the following organisations are scheduled to attend: Youth formations of political parties represented in parliament, National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), Young Communist League, South African Youth Chamber of Commerce, Youth Business of South Africa, Western Cape Business Forum, Spades Youth Development Agency and Youth Community Development Workers, among others.

The Youth Parliament will be followed by a debate by Parliament’s National Assembly on the theme of “a caring Parliament that advances youth development to achieve economic freedom”

Delegates to the Youth Parliament will also attend the debate in the National Assembly.
