The MEC of Roads and Public Works Ms Pemmy Majodina cordially invites all general managers, senior managers, managers and associated managers to the opening of the Amathole Department of Pubic Works regional offices
For a long time, the staff working at Amathole Department of Public Works regional offices has been accommodated in temporary structures in the form of park homes and timber panel temporal offices.
There has been more staff allocated per office than under normal circumstances. This brought the thought that in order for the staff to perform at required levels in service delivery, the environment has to enhance that. One of the steps to address that was to construct these offices. They were built in such a way that the community must be able to notice that these offices have been built by a building department.
These offices were designed in such a way that most building methods appear in the building itself. The structure has got the traditional wet works (i.e. concrete, brick and mortar), glazing, timber and steelwork. Wall or external envelope has been made into three major types i.e. some vertical, some sloping or at an angle and some circular.
