The Director-General for the Department of Energy cordially invites members of the media to the Nuclear energy Seminar as part of the Cop17 (DoE) site event. This side event will: Review the climate mitigation benefits of nuclear energy and compare the benefits with the risk, explore the role for nuclear energy in electricity production after Fukushima and present the South African perspective on nuclear energy; as well as describe IAEA capacity building in developing countries for energy system analysis and climate change mitigation.
