In its continuous endeavor to effectively create developmental and accountable institutions of Traditional Leadership, the North West department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs will on 1 and 2 March 2012, at the Mmabatho Palms Hotel host a two day summit to assess progress on fulfilling its legislative mandate of supporting, monitoring, and promoting viable institutions of Traditional leadership in the province.
Since the merger of the Developmental Local Government and the Traditional Affairs components, efficient methods to effectively integrate the two components at a strategic level has not been critically applied, thus creating glitches on systems put in place to render support to institutions of Traditional Leadership.
MEC Paul Sebegoe says that through this summit, the department will seek to derive plans to develop a Traditional Affairs Turn-around plan, Review Annual Performance Plan 2012/13, craft a Programme of Action and strategically align service delivery programmes with institutions of Traditional Leadership.
“A clear strategic plan outlining the nature of support to institutions of Traditional Leadership has been expressed as a need by Dikgosi. This summit will seek to position the department and institutions of Traditional Leadership on a strategic path”, he said
