The North West Provincial Legislature’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts will be conducting public hearings of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) for all departments in the province. The public hearings will be held at the Legislature Building Committee Room 2 starting at 10h00 on Wednesday, 9 February until 4 March.
Chairperson of the Committee, Honourable Kabelo Moepeng, said the purpose of these public hearings is for the departments to give further evidence on their spending patterns, within their respective departments.
“In the previous years the Auditor-General’s office discovered a lot of irregular and unauthorised expenditures. As the Standing Committee we want to play our oversight role by checking if the departments are not are complying with Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).“We also want to ensure clean governance in the province as promised by our Premier, Thandi Modise,” said Honourable Moepeng.
