North West stakeholders to review and strengthen anti-corruption strategy

North West Premier Mme Thandi Modise says that capacitating anti-corruption structures would serve to promote ethical culture, deepen an improved understanding of the many facets of the scourge of corruption and strengthen implementation of programmes to combat it. Premier Modise highlighted this on the eve of the two-day Provincial Anti-Corruption Lekgotla to be held as from tomorrow, Monday 5 March 2012 at Thaga Moso Resort outside Zeerust in the North West Province.

The Lekgotla hosted by the Office of the Premier in partnership with the Provincial Anti-Corruption Forum is aimed at engaging sectors and constituencies to develop a strategic programme of action supported by a business plan with clear timeframes.

It is also intended at revising the Provincial Anti-Corruption Strategy and implementation modalities because.

Modise says that the challenges  and threats posed by fraud and corruption to the stability and security of societies is bound to undermine the very institutions and values of our hard won democracy, ethical values and justice, and also jeopardise sustainable development, effective service delivery and the rule of law.

Representatives of business sector, private sector organisations, provincial government departments, municipalities, traditional leaders, Non-Government organisations, churches and faith-based organisations are expected to attend the Lekgotla.
