North West hosts Senior Management Services Conference

The role of public servants in providing quality services to the people will come under spotlight in the North West Province on Thursday.

The North West Provincial Government will host its Provincial Senior Management Services Conference at Mmabatho Convention Centre on 13 September 2012 from 8h00.

The Conference will allow a platform for deployed managers who did unannounced visits at service points as part of Public Service Week to table salient findings and challenges observed during their visit.

To be held under the theme, “How can we as public servants improve service delivery in the province”, the conference will centre around service delivery challenges facing the province with a view of recommending appropriate intervention and reflecting on the turnaround strategy.

North West Premier, Thandi Modise, Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela and Dr Tumelontle Thiba, Provincial Head of Independent Electoral Commission will be amongst the key note speakers at the Conference.

Heads of Departments, Municipal Managers, CEO’s of State Owned Enterprises, Regional Managers of National Departments based in the Province, Chief Directors and Directors from all provincial government departments are among the delegates expected to attend.

The Provincial Public Service Week was launched at Tosca village in Kagisano-Molopo Local Municipality last Friday.

North West Premier, Mme Thandi Modise said this year’s public service week must be used as a platform to review imperatives and challenges related to public service delivery.

"We must go out there to wake up the public service because it is one of those events where we need to reflect on the mandate that we need to carry, to deliver services to the people," she said.

Public Service Week is an integral part of the Batho Pele movement aimed at instilling and/or rebuilding good ethics, morale and pride in public servants to encourage the culture of providing quality services.

The week promotes inter-governmental relations by encouraging integrated approaches in rendering public services to effectively utilise limited government resources for improved results.
