The North West Executive Council (Exco) is to hold its Planning Lekgotla to determine critical policy and delivery priorities for the 2012/13 financial year. The rigorous one day session is to be held at Cookes Lake Resort in Mahikeng as from 8h30 am on Thursday, 26 January 2012.
The main objectives of the Exco Lekgotla are to:
- To assess the performance and achievements of the provincial government during 2011\12 financial year.
- To develop the delivery programme of the provincial government for 2012\13.
- To identify critical challenges and strategic choices for the future.
Exco will use the Lekgotla to assess the mid-term performance of the provincial government on the five national priorities – job creation, health, education, crime eradication, rural development and land reform – with a view to enhancing performance in the new financial year commencing on 1 April 2012.
In addition to considering priorities for District municipalities, the Lekgotla also will also evaluate progress in the implementation of Clean Audit 2014 Plan of Action and alignment of the Provincial Growth Development Strategy to the New Economic Growth Path Plan.
The resolutions of the Lekgotla will form the basis of government's programme of action for new financial year is to be articulated by the Premier in her State of the Province Address to be delivered on Friday 17 February 2012.
Premier Mme Thandi Modise says that the Lekgotla, which will be attended by MECs, Mayors, Heads of departments, parastatals as well as municipal managers will focus on accelerating the pace and quality of service delivery as well as synergy in implementing delivery programmes in order to create jobs and strengthen government’s capacity to speed up the provision of services and infrastructure development.
