In strengthening local government communication, the North West Department of Local Government (DLGTA) and Traditional Affairs will in partnership with the National Department of Cooperative Governance (CoGTA) and Government Communication and Information Systems (GCIS) conduct a four-day Local Government Communications Capacity Building workshop.
Amongst other key elements which will be aimed at is intensifying local government communication, exploring ground breaking methods and new media platforms which will allow local government communicators to reach a broader audience. To ensure better efficient communication of municipal and government wide programmes as well as to strengthen the capacity of communicators and communications teams at Local Government level and to address inconsistencies in messaging and equip municipalities to deal effectively with communication crisis situations.
This four-day workshop will also focus on the importance of a website in government, content development of key government messages, the relevance of social media in government and developing a communication strategy elements of the strategy.
