The Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Mme Rejoice Mabudafhasi, will on 4 April 2011, embark on the Public Participation Programme (PPP) in Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality, particularly, Ratlou and Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipalities, North West province.
This will be a follow up meeting based on the outcome of the stakeholder engagement which was led by Deputy Minister Mabudafhasi and North West Premier, Ms Thandi Modise, held on 30 November 2010 in Mafikeng, whereby after detailed discussions, an action plan had to be developed to address water provisioning challenges in Ratlou and Ramotshere Local Municipalities.
During the Public Participation Programme, the Deputy Minister will engage the communities, provincial and local government leadership in order to establish the strategic support required on water and environmental matters assess the challenges, recommendations progress on the existing projects and conduct site visit at Thutlwane Borehole Water Scheme in Ratlou Local Municipality.
The action plan to address water provisioning challenges for Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipal area (NMMDM), with specific reference to Ramotshere Local Municipality (Dinokana/Welbedagt) and Ratlou Local Municipality (Setlagole, Madibogo and Kraaipan) will be presented by both Municipalities.
The MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Boitumelo Tshwene, Executive Mayor of Ngaka-Modiri District Municipality, Ms Pinkie Mokoto, Executive Mayor of Ramotshere Local Municipality, Mr Moji Peter Pilane and Executive Mayor of Ratlou Local Municipality, Cllr K Francisco Ntwe will join the Deputy Minister during the Public Participation Programme.
