New Ministry focuses on child murders

The recent spate of child murders in the country will come under scrutiny when the Minister of Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities, Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya, meet with stakeholders in the children sector in Benoni tomorrow Thursday, 9 July 2009.

The meeting is part of the stakeholder consultation process to finalise the strategic priorities and the programme of action for the new Ministry. The two-day consultative meeting will also discuss the Children's Act, Child Justice Act, measures to combat trafficking of women and children and other issues affecting children.

Minister Mayende-Sibiya is expected to outline the actions that government is taking to respond to incidents of child murder that have been reported in the country, particularly in Western Cape.
