NCOP to assess service delivery in provinces

Permanent delegates from the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), a House of Parliament that represents the interests of provinces in the national sphere of government, will from next week 6-10 September, visit all nine provinces to gather first-hand information about government service delivery.

The week-long visit is referred to as Provincial Week. The programme allows permanent delegates and Provincial legislatures to interact with government departments regarding progress made in the implementation of government laws, policies and programmes.

In line with the theme of the Provincial Week – Working together to ensure the delivery of quality services to communities”permanent delegates together with members of the provincial legislatures will engage government departments, municipalities and organised local government on how the three spheres of government must work together to deliver quality services to the people.

During the week-long visit the permanent delegates and members of the provincial legislatures will also conduct site visits to ensure the delivery of quality services to communities.

The NCOP comprises 90 delegates – 54 of whom are permanent delegates (six from each of the nine provinces).

For full details about the sites to be visited and venues for public hearings in all nine provinces, please see the programme
