National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Executive Chairperson Andile Lungisa will lead nationwide unemployed graduates road shows aimed at collecting Curriculum Vitaes (CVs) of unemployed graduates with the aim of linking them with existing jobs at local, provincial and national government departments.
This is part of the NYDA’s intervention to reduce youth unemployment and contribute to the socio-economic development of young people in the country.
As part of the roadshows the NYDA will hold consultations with Premiers, Mayors and Municipal Managers to look at the speedily filling of vacancies at these levels of governance, prioritising the placement of qualified yet unemployed youth.
The NYDA will use its existing system of Jobs and Opportunities Seekers Database (JOBS) to load the CVs received from young people. JOBS is an online database for young people looking for job and training opportunities. In the past JOBS has proven to be an effective tool for linking up young people with job opportunities.
During the roadshow, the NYDA has put together a team of people who will capture the resumes of young people on the spot and match them with identified existing job opportunities. The roadshow will therefore seek to facilitate effective access to jobs for the unemployed youth.
The road roadshows will kick off in Free State next week and will roll out to other provinces.
