National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Chairperson to brief media on the upcoming National Youth Convention

Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Andile Lungisa will brief members of the media on the upcoming National Youth Convention set to take place in Kimberley from 5 to 7 August 2011. The National Youth Convention will receive inputs from young people representing civil society structures, political youth formations, government departments, private sector and youth development experts towards finalising the draft Integrated Youth Development Strategy (IYDS) to be submitted to Parliament later this year.

The development of the IYDS is a legislated mandate as per NYDA Act 54 of 2008 section 3 (a) and once finalised, it will enforce government and private sector policies and programmes to prioritise the development of young people, with clear monitoring and evaluation tools against which these sectors will account on the impact of their policies on the lives of young people.

Members of the media are invited to the briefing as follows:

Venue: NYDA Midrand Office, 11 Broadwalk Avenue - Off Church Street, Halfway  House 1683
Date: Monday, 1 August 2011
Time: 10h00 for 10h30
