NYDA Chairperson Andile Lungisa will meet government and municipal officials, civil society and political youth organisations on the establishment of the NYDA provincial chapter in Mpumalanga.
National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Board Chairperson Andile Lungisa will meet officials from government, municipalities, civil society and political youth organisation on 4 November 2009, in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga to discuss the establishment of the NYDA provincial chapter in Mpumalanga.
During the visit Lungisa will also outline the eight Key Performance Areas identified by the NYDA to advance youth development, namely Economic Participation, Education and Skills Development, Effective and Efficient Resources Management, Information Services and Communication, National Youth Service, Policy, Lobby and Advocacy, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation and Social Cohesion.
This is one of a series of meetings Lungisa is hosting in provinces with key role players to outline the process of establishing provincial and local NYDA offices. The visit to Mpumalanga also becomes more significant as it follows in the wake of recent community protest, which have attracted a larger participation of young people.
The NYDA is set to have offices in all nine provinces as well as local offices in all the 283 municipalities. Further to that there will be mobile offices to maximise access to remote and scattered rural areas. Since the establishment of the NYDA, through the merger of the National Youth Commission and Umsobomvu Youth Fund, a number of provinces have moved to repeal the Acts that establishes the PYC's paving way for the establishment of the NYDA.
The NYDA was officially launched by President Jacob Zuma on 16 June 2009. It is aimed at advancing youth development through providing guidance to initiatives across sectors of society and spheres of government and the private sector. It will also embark on initiatives aimed at promoting the economic participation and development of young people.
