National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) CEO, Eastern Cape Advisory Board Chairperson to join Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe for an interaction with Eastern Cape youth

National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) CEO, Steven Ngubeni and Eastern Cape Advisory Board Chairperson, Ayanda Matiti will join Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe during an interaction with the youth of the Eastern Cape in East London on Wednesday, 29 June 2011.

The interaction forms part of on-going Youth Month activities organised by government and the NYDA countrywide under the theme “Youth Action for Economic Freedom in Our Lifetime." The event jointly hosted by the Eastern Cape Premier’s office and the NYDA will give young people an opportunity to interact with the Deputy President and the NYDA and raise issues affecting the Eastern Cape youth, within the context of the government’s declaration of 2011 as the year of job creation. The NYDA will use suggestions from the interaction to come up with proposals to help alleviate poverty and youth unemployment.

This year the country marks the 35th anniversary of the Soweto and related uprisings of 16 June 1976, and the NYDA has since the start of the month embarked on various activities aimed at highlighting available opportunities for young people.
