The National Planning Commission's (NPC) Chairperson and Minister in the Presidency, Trevor Manuel and fellow NPC commissioners will launch the “NPC Jam” on Thursday, 25 August at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
The “NPC Jam”, a live 72 hour online discussion will take place from 28 September until 1 October 2011.
This will give thousands of South Africans the opportunity to engage NPC Commissioners in an online dialogue about both the vision for South Africa in 2030 and to make proposals to resolve the nine challenges facing South Africa which were identified in the NPC’s Diagnostic Overview which was released on 9 June 2011.
Thursday, 25 August will mark the opening of the registration process for the NPC Jam. South Africans will have one month to register online for the Jam. The online dialogue begins on 28 September.
Joining the NPC at UJ on Thursday will be a number of talk show hosts and radio personalities who have committed themselves to urge South Africans to register and participate in the NPC Jam. They include Bob Mabena, John Robbie, DJ Sbu and Bonang.
A debate facilitated by NPC Commissioner Bobby Godsell involving the radio personalities, NPC Commissioners, the UJ Student and Academic Community and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) will precede the formal launch.
Members of the media are invited to attend the dialogue and the launch of the NPC Jam.
