National Planning Commission handover of vision statement and the National Development Plan

National Planning Commission (NPC) handover of the Vision Statement and National Development Plan on Friday, 11 November and arrangements regarding an opportunity for journalists to read the plan under embargo.

Following  the release of the NPC's diagnostic overview on 9 June 2011, the commission is now ready to hand over the Vision Statement and National Development Plan to President Jacob Zuma. This is the first ever national development plan and is the result of work done by the NPC commissioners since their appointment in May 2010.  

A media reading facility has been arranged from 11h30 on Friday, 11 November at the Presidential Guesthouse. After the reading session, a media briefing will take place with Minister Manuel and other esteemed commissioners from 12h50 until 13h50. This will provide an opportunity for questions and dialogue.  

The media is also invited to a  presentation on the National Development Plan as well as the handover which will take place from 14h00 to 16h00 at the Presidential Guest House. NPC Commissioners, the President and Deputy President, as well as other guests, will be present.

The embargo will be in place until 16h00 on Friday, 11 November 2011.

An opportunity for radio and television interviews will be provided from 16h00.

Photo opportunities will also be arranged for the official handover of the plan to the President.

It is critical that members of the media register for the reading session as well for attendance at the event itself. There will be no admission without formal accreditation.
