The Department of Environmental Affairs will host a national information and consultation session on the international climate change talks on Tuesday, 4 August 2009 at the Colosseum Hotel in Pretoria.
Convening of the session is informed by the critical phase of international negotiations that we are now entering as we approach the fifteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the convention to be held from 7 to 18 December 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The national session is aimed at providing stakeholders with an opportunity to discuss the South African priorities and build a common understanding and approach towards Copenhagen. It will also provide information and an update on the status of international climate change negotiations.
Media is invited to the national information and consultation session.
A media information session (09h00 to 10h00) on the international negotiations will precede the session. Thereafter media may attend the parallel session of their choice. On conclusion of the day’s proceedings, a media question and answer session (16h00 to 16h30) will be convened.
