National Climate Change Conference for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries

Members of the media are invited to the National Climate Change Conference for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The conference is a precursor to the Conference of the Parties (COP 17)  to be hosted by South Africa later this year in Durban from 28 November to 9 December 2011. The COP 17 will be attended by the international community under the auspices of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The focus of this national conference will be on the impact of climate change on agriculture, forestry and fisheries and issues highlighted will be prioritised for possible inclusion in the formal negotiation process. Agreed topics will receive wide attention and the importance of climate change on the sector will be brought to the attention of a wide range of stakeholders and the public in general.
