Mzansi Golden Economy: The rise of the artistic class

The Department of Arts and Culture will host the National Consultative conference on the role of the sector in the new growth path.

The arts, culture and heritage sector plays a unique and transformative role in the lives of the people. It has provided opportunities for skills development, empowerment, employment, social cohesion and economic self-reliance. Countries that perform well economically often have high degree of social cohesion.

Significantly, the national department will host a historic national consultative conference of ministers, thought leaders, managers, cultural activists, practitioners and other influential figures.

The focus is on the contribution of the sector to economic development and growth. Often people are not aware that the creative industries not only bring people together but put bread on the table on the table. In fact, they contribute to the economy.

The conference will chart the way forward to highlight and recognise the role of the arts, culture and heritage sector in job creation and economic development.
