Several of South Africa’s major cities will be given additional responsibility for human settlements project development when Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale hands over certificates of accreditation in Pretoria on Friday.
The cities have been granted what is termed “level two accreditation status”, which gives a municipality the responsibility to approve and manage housing construction programmes and ensure technical quality assurance.
Members of the media are invited to attend the media briefing/signing ceremony, which will take place during the first Human Settlements MinMEC of 2011.
