Municipal Public Private Partnership conference

Gauteng Treasury, a division of the newly established Gauteng Department of Finance will host a Municipal Public Private Partnership conference at Turffontein Racecourse on 18 February 2010.

The aim of the conference is to create awareness amongst municipalities in the province on how key infrastructure projects such as bulk water supply, sanitation, energy and eco-tourism can be implemented through the public private partnership process.

The conference will also offer a platform for municipalities to share information and challenges relating to infrastructure delivery and lessons that could be learned by the local sphere of government in project planning.

The department has a mandate to facilitate and regulate public private partnership initiatives in the province in accordance with: treasury regulation 16 to the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), for provincial and national projects and the municipal public private partnership regulations in alignment with Municipal Finance Management Act MFMA, 2003 and MSA in the municipal sphere.
