The Mukula Community under the leadership of Chief LVN Mphathele Takalani Tshivhase, will on Saturday 2011, celebrate hundred years of existence since the arrival of Chief Joel Takalani Tshivhase in 1911.
Mukula village is situated 25kms east of Thohoyandou, with a population of 25 000. The community is widely known for the preservation of culture, tradition and participation largely in the transformation of South Africa towards democracy.
The celebration will also highlight milestones achieved as a result of poverty alleviation programmes since the dawn of democracy. As part of the celebration, various stakeholders will present progress reports from 1911 to date.
Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Mme Rejoice Mabudafhasi, has been invited by the Chief to attend the celebration, whereby she is expected to give a progress report on the Mukula water challenges.
