Mpumalanga launches 16 days of activism

This year's opening ceremony of 16 Days of Activism on No Violence against Women and Child Abuse will be officiated by the Acting Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe on behalf of MEC Sibongile Manana who is overseas on her political assignment.

The launch is arranged as follows:

16 Days of Activism is an International Campaign for the elimination of gender based violence. The campaign runs from 25 November to 10 December every year.
The campaign aims to generate increased levels of awareness amongst South Africans pertaining to the incidences of violence perpetuated against women and children. The campaign also aims to create awareness of the link between the HIV and AIDS and gender.

As part of the programme, MEC Shongwe will visit Masisukumeni Crisis Centre in Tonga.
