More youth volunteers for 2nd Phase of Mahikeng cleaning campaign

More youth volunteers are expected to take part in the Second Phase of the cleaning campaign targeting Mahikeng, the provincial capital of the North West Province on Monday.

The follow-up cleaning campaign is part of the Proud to Serve Youth Campaign spearheaded by the National Youth Development Agency and the Premier Youth Support Unit.

The first cleaning campaign was supported by youths from other across all districts in the North West Province the majority of whom were from Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality.

Thirty-six houses are also targeted for construction in Ditsobotla, Tswaing, Maquassi Hills, Moses Kotane and Greater Taung local municipalities as part of the youth month programme.

In appreciating the enthusiasm of the youth involved in the Proud to Serve campaign, North West Premier Mme Thandi Modise has called for it to be sustained as it affords youth with the opportunity to emulate patriotic and historic sacrifices of the 1976 youth generation.

The cleaning campaign scheduled to commence at 8:30 am is supported by Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality, Mahikeng Local Municipality, Atamelang Bus Service and a local businessman.

Volunteers are expected to gather at the Mmabatho Stadium Parking Lot from as early as 7h30.
