More clean ups in Tembisa to improve environmental living standards

Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Nandi Mayathula Khoza and Housing and Local government MEC Kgaogelo Lekgoro will intensify the Clean and Green Campaign by joining community of ward 8 and 14 in Tembisa in educating and creating awareness about littering.

The purpose of the clean up is to intensify and strengthen efforts in Tembisa to sustainable integrated waste management and greening. This is a follow up after a visit by President Jacob Zuma to Tembisa, where community complained about the state of environment in there area.

“We are going back to Tembisa to clean and green the township until the environment is conducive, for the betterment of the life of our people,” eluded MEC Nandi Mayathula Khoza.

Joining the campaign will the Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Councillor Ntombi Megwe, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms Nokuthula Skhakhane and the members of the Mayoral Committee.

The clean up event details are as follows:

Venues: Corner George Nyanga and Sam Molele Drives (Madelakufa informal settlement, ward 8) and ward 14 Ililiba section sports ground along Esselen Link Road, opposite the cemetery
