Moot Court competition 2012: Entrenching constitutional values and human rights

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, in collaboration with the University of Pretoria and the Foundation of Human Rights will be hosting the National Moot Court Competition in an effort to create greater Constitutional awareness and encourage the protection and promotion of constitutional values.

The Moot Court Competition was created, amongst other things to empower and encourage young South Africans, especially those in grade 10 and 11, to understand and relate to human rights concepts, values and principles to daily life activities at the interpersonal and intrapersonal level.

The judges for this competition will include some of the best minds in the legal fraternity including Constitutional Court Judges Bess Nkabinde, Edwin Cameron as well as Zonke Majodina the Chairperson of the United Nations Human Rights Committee.

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Andries Nel MP, will deliver a motivational lecture to contestants on the day.
