Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane will on Thursday, 21 July 2011, address the inaugural Gauteng Tourism Summit in Newtown, Johannesburg.
The Premier will be joined by MEC for Economic Development and Tourism Qedani Mahlangu and captains of the tourism industry.
The two-day summit will discuss ways in which to get the best out of Gauteng’s Tourism Strategy in line with national guidelines and plans for the sector to grow and create jobs. It will provide a platform for key tourism stakeholders to engage with the tourism strategy on a practical level.
It will further discuss innovative solutions to position Gauteng as a competitive tourism destination.
Gauteng Tourism Authority CEO Dawn Robertson will make a presentation on building a globally competitive tourism economy in Gauteng. Industry expert Thebe Ikalafeng of Brand Leadership and Gordon Cook of Vega School of Advertising are also on the summit’s line-up.
