Minister Xingwana to launch a Language Awareness campaign

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Lulu Xingwana invites members of the media to a launch of a Language Awareness campaign. As part of government’s efforts to develop and promote South Africa’s 11 official languages, the national language policy framework and implementation plan were developed and adopted in 2003.

The national language policy framework seeks to give effect to the constitutional provisions of multilingualism and the development of all the official languages. Consistent with our vision of promoting multilingualism, the Language Awareness campaign seeks to create public awareness about language rights and responsibilities.
