The Minister for Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Ms Lulu Xingwana, will convene a one-day interactive dialogue on sexual violence against children and adolescents on Monday, 28 May 2012 in Meadowlands, Soweto.
The purpose of this one-day engagement, in collaboration with government departments and civil society organizations, is to create a platform of interactive dialogue on sexual violence against adolescents. Key participants include government departments, non-governmental organizations, international agencies and adolescents.
The department believes that the recent incidents and escalating accounts of sexual offences committed against children and adolescents demand proactive and decisive intervention. The active participation and perspective of children and adolescents will be critical in this regard.
