Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Rob Davies to address Economic Development and Industrial Policy graduation at Wits University

The first group of students in the Capacity Building Programme on Economic Development and Industrial Policy are to receive accolades from Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Rob Davies at a graduation ceremony to be held at the Donald Gordon Auditorium, Wits Business School in Parktown, Johannesburg on Friday, 13 April 2012 from 16h00 to 18h00.

Members of the media are invited to cover the event.

The graduation of the students who participated in the programme aimed at creating a pool of qualified postgraduates with competencies in economic and industrial policy analysis and implementation that could be recruited into government and the economy at large.

The programme which was initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) last year, is designed, developed and delivered by Witwatersrand University’s School of Economics and Business Sciences.

The department had identified a need for developing postgraduate programmes in economic development and industrial policy as a response to the observed inadequacy of current postgraduate degrees in economics and related fields in producing people with skills and competencies to conduct economic and industrial policy analysis and implementation.
