Mineral Resources Minister, Ms Susan Shabangu (MP), will pay condolences to the family of deceased female miner, Pinky Mosiane at her Pshing Township home in Ventersdorp on Monday February 20, 2012.
Miss Mosiane lost her life to brutal underground killing at Anglo American’s Khomanani platinum mine in an incident that has sent shock waves through the mining industry and the entire country.
On Wednesday Minister Shabangu in her state-of-the-nation debate speech expressed grave concern and disappointment at this dreadful incident and has called on mining companies to institute stringent measures to ensure safety of women in mining and the wilful implementation of gender equality principles.
Minister Shabangu will be accompanied by the DMR director-general, Dr Thibedi Ramontja and other senior officials of the department and will proceed as follows:
