The Minister of Mineral Resources, Ms Susan Shabangu will launch the Princess Nombuso Early Childhood Development Centre (ECDC) in KwaNzimakwe, Port Edward, KwaZulu Natal on Saturday, 15 August 2009.
The Princess Nombuso ECDC is a result of the Department of Mineral Resources' social and labour plans that require that companies receiving mineral rights from the state should also invest in communities in their vicinity. The project is a public-private partnership between the department, Hibiscus Coast Municipality and Natal Portland Cement. The Minister will hand over the centre to the Department of Social Development who will manage it.
