The Minister for Rural Development and Land Reform Mr Gugile Nkwinti together with the Chief Land Claims Commissioner, Mr Andrew Mphela, cordially invite you to the ceremony marking the restoration of 4283 hectares of land to the Van Wyk family in Upington, on 23 May 2009.
The 27 household from the Van Wyk family will also receive assistance from the state in the form of grants towards the development of the restored land. Approximately R5,7 million has been approved by the state in respect of the Van Wyk family claim, with R4,5 million approved to buy back the farm Gouws 130, for the claimant family.
As part of the event, the members of the media will have an opportunity to interact with members of the executive managers of the department regarding the Van Wyk Claim as well as other development within the restitution process in the province. The event will take place as follows:
