Minister Radebe to officially announce 56 courts for 2010 FIFA World Cup

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development’s Minister Jeff Radebe will officially announce the designation of 56 courts and will share information on their state of readiness as dedicated courts that will hear all criminal matters relating to the FIFA 2010 World Cup soccer tournament. In addition, the dedicated courts will also hear cases involving violations of municipality by-laws, consistent with the guarantees South Africa made to the world football governing body, FIFA.

These dedicated courts which are mainly in the host cities and are located in reasonable proximity to the stadiums and ports of entry, will contribute towards the efficient administration of the criminal justice system for all.
