Minister in The Presidency responsible for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Collins Chabane will deliver the official opening address at the International Sudan Studies Conference at the University of South Africa.
The conference is the second of its kind since the signing of the historic Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in January 2005 between the Sudanese Government and the SPLM-SPLA.

The conference will take place under the theme: “The future of Sudan to 2011 and beyond: African dimensions of peace, stability, justice and reconciliation.”

The conference will also analyse challenges that are embedded in the CPA as well as historic and global challenges equally critical to the future of the country and its people. In attendance will be southern African academics and scholars, Sudanese from Africa, the African Diaspora, the Arab world and the international community.

The conference takes place at the time when Sudanese are preparing for the elections in 2010 and the referendum in 2011. The conference is hosted by the Centre for African Renaissance Studies at University of South Africa (UNISA).
