Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa to hold an Imbizo at Gugulethu, Western Cape

The Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa continues with his community engagement programme and will this evening interact with the community of Gugulethu, Western Cape. Key on the agenda will be the issue of gangsterism, which is often accompanied by drug and alcohol abuse and unfortunate killing of innocent civilians.

The Minister will get first-hand feedback from the communities, call for strengthening of police-community partnerships and ensure that such crimes are eradicated. He will be joined by the SAPS Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Lamoer, SAPS Cluster Commanders as well as Station Commanders from the surrounding areas.

Part of the Ministry of Police’s approach in the fight against crime is through strengthening partnerships with communities, civic organisations, religious and youth formations; constantly interacting and obtaining feedback from residents on policing issues. Such an approach has not only assisted in monitoring service delivery but further ensuring that communities become partners in the fight against crime, thus dealing a blow to criminals.
