Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa to deliver keynote address at Security Industry Alliance Conference

The Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa will deliver a keynote address at the Annual Conference of the Security Industry Alliance (SIA) tomorrow, under the theme: “The future of the Private Security Industry.” The conference will deal with challenges facing this industry, as well as focus on some of the positive initiatives that the SIA initiated to complement the work of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the fight against crime.

In his address, Minister Mthethwa is expected to outline some of the legislative amendments and approaches aimed at ensuring that both the SAPS and private security industry continue to strengthen their cooperation; as both their objectives are towards ensuring safety of citizens and businesses.

The ministry continues to engage different stakeholders in the fight against crime, because it is our firm belief that unless we partner with different role-players - to formulate, coordinate and implement effective strategies, we shall never reduce crime.
