Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa to address the Child Protection Campaign in Durban

The Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa will tomorrow give a keynote address at the launch of the child protection campaign in Durban tomorrow.

This week, the Minister urged police across the country to play prominent roles in protection of children by ensuring they treat victims of crime with respect, ensure statements are correctly taken and arrest the perpetrators. The call forms part of the commemoration of the Child Protection Week (27 May-3 June 2012). He stressed that reduction in the levels of crime against women, children and the elderly remains a priority for the SAPS.

Also in attendance at the event will the MEC for Safety and Liaison in KZN, Mr Willies Mchunu, the Mayor of eThekwini Municipality, Mr James Nxumalo as well as representatives from different church denominations, civic organisations, youth formations and business community.
