Minister Plato to do door-to-door ‘Increasing Safety’ visit in Khayelitsha

On Wednesday, 7 March 2012, Dan Plato, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, will visit the residents of Khayelitsha to do a door-to-door community visit to hear about safety concerns and share information with them with regards to making their communities safer.

Issues that the Minister will raise include raising awareness about taking responsibility as part of a ‘whole of society’ approach towards community safety and working with existing community structures, the rise of girl gangs and gang activity in the area, after school sporting activities available to the youth and building good relations between the community and police.
