The Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters will attend the 53rd Annual General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which is scheduled to take place on 14 – 18 September 2009 in Vienna, Austria.
The Minister will deliver a National Statement which outlines recent developments and the progress in the South African nuclear sector and also reiterate support for the Agency’s initiatives in the fields of nuclear science and technology programme.
The AIEA is an intergovernmental organisation that serves as a centre for nuclear cooperation. The objective of the IAEA is to promote the safe, secure, and the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
The Minister will be accompanied by senior Departmental officials and key stakeholders in the nuclear sector from South Africa.
