The Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters, MP, invites members of the media to the electrification switch-on ceremony. The ceremony is part of the programme of the Department of Energy which is aimed at ensuring that all formal households (urban and rural) are electrified by 2014.
This programme will benefit Tsolo and Qumbu Communities who have been disadvantaged for many years. The number households that will benefit directly from this project are 2,683 in Qumbu and 3,322 which are both located in the municipal area of Mhlontlo.
The overall budget for this project is R42 million which covers over 6 000 connections in these villages. The department is investing over R87 million in the Mhlontlo Municipality alone during this financial year.
